URGENT: REPORT OF SUSPECTED ANIMAL CRUELTY – REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing from Italy to urgently report two deeply disturbing videos that raise serious concerns about the possible mistreatment of animals in the East London area, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
I am contacting you with the utmost respect for your authority and your competence in handling such cases. I fully understand that I am an Italian citizen and that the facts must be independently assessed and verified by the appropriate South African authorities. However, cruelty towards animals is a matter that concerns people far beyond the place where it occurs.
I would also like to emphasize that these videos have been widely circulated and viewed not only in South Africa, but also here in Italy and internationally. Their content has caused strong indignation, concern and distress among people who have seen them, including members of the Italian public. This is therefore not simply a private concern raised by one individual, but a matter that has generated significant public reaction beyond the country where the events appear to have taken place.
For this reason, I respectfully ask you to treat this report as a matter requiring urgent attention.
VIDEO 1 – KITTEN

This video is my greatest source of concern. It appears to show a very young kitten being handled in an extremely rough and potentially dangerous manner. The kitten is lifted while being held by one leg and is then repeatedly thrown or dropped onto the ground.
The behaviour shown appears to continue for some time, and the repeated nature of the conduct is particularly alarming. A very young and vulnerable animal may be especially susceptible to injury from this type of handling.
I cannot determine from the video alone whether the kitten has suffered physical injuries, including internal injuries or injuries that may not be immediately visible. However, I am seriously concerned about the animal's condition and welfare.
I therefore respectfully but urgently ask that the kitten's current whereabouts and wellbeing be established as soon as possible and that the animal be assessed by a qualified veterinary professional if considered necessary.
If the kitten is still in the care or possession of the person shown in the video, I respectfully ask that the competent authorities assess whether its current circumstances present any further risk to its safety or welfare.
VIDEO 2 – CHICKEN

A second video involving the same person raises further concerns about the treatment of a chicken. The animal is handled roughly and is then placed or dropped onto the ground.
I ask that this incident also be carefully examined and that the current condition of the chicken be verified.
I do not consider the suffering or welfare of one animal to be more important than that of another. Both the kitten and the chicken are sentient beings who deserve to be treated with care and protected from unnecessary fear, pain and suffering.
Taken together, these videos raise serious concerns about the welfare and treatment of animals who may be in the care or presence of this person.
I therefore respectfully ask the competent authorities to investigate the circumstances shown in the videos, establish where the incidents took place, verify the identity and current circumstances of the animals involved, and determine whether any other animals may currently be exposed to similar treatment.
I am also deeply concerned by the presence of a minor in connection with the conduct shown. Without making assumptions about the child's personal circumstances, I believe it is important to acknowledge that exposing a child to behaviour involving the apparent mistreatment of animals may contribute to the normalisation of violence and cruelty towards living beings. I therefore believe that this aspect is also worthy of the appropriate authorities' attention.
I would also respectfully ask that, where possible, any publicly available digital evidence relating to these incidents be preserved and reviewed promptly. The videos could potentially be deleted, removed from social media platforms or otherwise made unavailable, which could make subsequent verification more difficult.
I wish to make clear that my purpose in reporting these incidents is not to prejudge the outcome of any investigation or to make accusations beyond what can be independently established. My purpose is simply to ensure that potentially serious evidence of animal mistreatment is brought to the attention of the authorities who have the ability and responsibility to investigate it properly.
I am reporting this matter from Italy because these images have reached the Italian public and have caused profound concern and indignation here as well. However, I fully recognise that only the competent South African authorities are in a position to establish the facts, locate the animals and determine what action, if any, is appropriate.
I would be sincerely grateful if you could confirm receipt of this report and, insofar as possible, let me know whether the matter will be investigated.
Most importantly, I respectfully ask that the welfare and current condition of the kitten and the chicken be checked as a matter of urgency, particularly given the possibility that the animals may still be exposed to the circumstances shown in the videos.
Thank you for taking this report seriously and for the work you do to protect animals. I sincerely hope that the appropriate authorities will carefully investigate what is shown in these videos and ensure that the welfare of every animal involved is properly assessed and protected.
