Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to formally express my deep concern regarding a widely reported incident involving a camel used for tourist rides at the Devil City on the Sea scenic area in Fuhai County, Xinjiang.

According to video footage circulated on social media and subsequently reported by international media outlets, the animal appeared to be severely exhausted, repeatedly collapsing while still being forced to carry tourists. Eyewitness accounts describe clear signs of extreme distress and physical inability to continue working, while the animal was allegedly coerced to stand and resume activity.

While the incident has generated significant international concern, there is still a serious lack of transparent and official information regarding the current condition and welfare of the animal involved.

I respectfully request clarification on the following points:

Whether the camel involved is still alive and its current health condition;

Whether it has received prompt and independent veterinary examination and treatment;

Whether it has been permanently removed from tourism-related exploitation and placed under safe care;

Whether a formal administrative investigation has been initiated;

Whether the operator responsible has been identified and held accountable;

Whether the tourist facility continues to use camels or other animals under similar working conditions.

Given the seriousness of the case, I strongly urge the competent authorities to:

Conduct a transparent and thorough investigation into the incident;

Allow an independent veterinary inspection in line with internationally recognized animal welfare standards;

Publish the findings of any investigation in a transparent manner;

Strengthen and enforce animal welfare regulations for all tourist activities involving working animals;

Prevent any recurrence of similar cases through stricter supervision.

At present, the absence of official communication regarding the fate of the animal remains deeply concerning. Transparency in this matter is essential both for public accountability and to demonstrate a commitment to humane and responsible tourism.

I respectfully request a timely response and clarification on the above points.
